Here these photographs show the process i went through to create the finial casts. From the top; as i was working with resin and plaster i had to rub a layer of honey wax as a release agent onto the plaster mould before poring in the resin to make it easier to take the final object out of the mould once set.
The next photograph shows the clear resin cast once set and removed from the mould. And the bottom photograph showing the object with light shone from the underneath.

This mould has a few layers of PVA release agent painted onto the mould before the resin was pored in. And again the bottom photograph showing the object with light shone from underneath.
Out of the two release agents i used, i found the PVA release agent worked better in releasing the cast in a full, clean and detailed form. The honey wax released the cast in full and detailed form but the honey wax struck to the cast in places so it wasn't as cleanly finished as the other one.

I also made a rubber mould that i could pore the resin into. |
